Ukrainian SBGS - Zhytomyrskyi Border Detachment

Nordisk Sikkerhet AS is assisting the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) of Ukraine to provide staff at the Zhytomyrskyi border detachment located at the Ukrainian- Belarusian border with the technical means and training for nuclear and radiological materials control.

Some elements of the detachment’s equipment are reaching the end of their lifecycles and must be replaced. The availability of personal protection equipment needs to be increased to ensure adequate protection for personnel in the event of a nuclear or radiological incident. Finally, additional equipment is also required for expanded coverage of the border in the Zhytomyrskyi region. This project will address these issues by providing additional radiological and nuclear material detection, protection, and dosimetry equipment. This will raise the detection and mitigation capability of the SBGS to help prevent and manage the illicit trafficking of nuclear and radiological material across the Ukrainian- Belarusian border.
