Nordisk Sikkerhet participates in international meeting of experts and local officials in Murmansk, Russia

On January 20th Nordisk Sikkerhet experts Pavel Tishakov and Daria Plyshevskaya met with international experts and regional authorities in Murmansk, Russia to discuss various matters related to radiation monitoring, radiation safety, and environmental protection in the Murmansk region.
The meeting was led by Vladimir Vorotnikov, Chairman of the Committee for Public Safety for the Murmansk Region, and included representatives of the Murmansk Office of Civil Defense and Fire Safety, the Committee for Public Safety for the Murmansk Region, the State Enterprise «Atombezopasnost» (a subsidiary of «Rosatom» state nuclear cooperation), and the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Various presentations were given on improvements in radiation safety and detection efforts in the Murmansk region, as well as current infrastructure, recent progress on internationally-funded projects, and Norwegian interests and activities in regional radiation safety. There were also demonstrations of the radiation monitoring equipment currently utilized in the Murmansk region.
Participants also discussed several potential projects which could serve to improve public safety, radiation monitoring capabilities, and environmental protection in the region, which could also serve to benefit the wider Nordic community. Participants agreed on a scope of potential project proposals which will be submitted for funding and support consideration under the framework of the Norwegian Government Action Plan for Nuclear Activities and the Environment in the Northern Area.
