On 29 November 2016 Nordisk Sikkerhet AS in consortium with Sosny R&D Company (Russia) delivered an offer to the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries (NFD) in relation to a tender for procurement of consultancy services concerning spent nuclear fuel (SNF). NFD ref: 16/4995; TED ref: 366311-2016; Doffin ref: 2016-114821
The main objective of the tender is to perform a study to investigate whether (i) it is feasible to directly dispose of SNF from Norway's two research reactors in a repository or (ii) there exist alternatives to reprocessing using the PUREX process to stabilize the SNF such that it can be disposed of in a repository.
If awarded the tender, Nordisk Sikkerhet AS will work in consortium with Sosny R&D Company, which has an extensive experience in the field of SNF management and a rare practical experience in handling standard, non-standard (experimental) and damaged (unconditioned) SNF.
Nordisk Sikkerhet AS will be the Consortium’s primary point of contact and will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of all project aspects. Sosny R&D Company will take the lead in the study over the technological aspects of the SNF treatment.
Tender results are planned to be announced by to the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries in December 2016 – January 2017.
