Nordisk Sikkerhet AS visits units 1, 2, and 4 of Rivne NPP

On October 15-16 Nordisk Sikkerhet visited the Rivne nuclear power plant (NPP) in Kuznetsovsk, Ukraine. During this visit Nordisk Sikkerhet visited units 1, 2, and 4.
The propose of the visit was to identify specific needs for Rivne NPP and develop a joint project. The project will focus on improving elements of the physical protection systems for units 1 and 2.
This joint project is intended to be submitted for funding consideration under the framework of the Norwegian government action plan for nuclear activities and the environment in northern areas.
The proposed project fits into one of the focus areas of the Action Plan for 2013-2017, namely, non-proliferation and physical protection, as well as the Action Plan’s geographical area, which covers projects and activities in the FSU countries. Furthermore, the project is aligned with several of Norway’s most recent bilateral and multilateral initiatives on the safety and security of radiological and nuclear materials in Ukraine, following a pledge at the Nuclear Security Summit, contributions through SLD and GTRI/US DOE, nuclear safety cooperation agreement with Ukraine.
The project application will be finalized and delivered in the beginning of November 2015.
